Time to move beyond ‘medieval’ cyber security approach, expert says

The nation’s approach to cyber security has much in common with medieval defense tactics, and that needs to change, says a cyber security expert at Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Building walls around your village to keep the bad guys isn’t enough. When the hackers attack it’s not enough to throw rocks and burning tar on them, they have mastered the art of the Trojan Horse.

Security must focus on the data at rest and in transit and not only protecting the channel and data center. And you must consider the internal network as insecure as a private network.
