Organizations should fear security concerns when considering moving applications to the cloud. But they need to recognize that moving web applications to the cloud does not make them secure.
The cloud is more secure than your own data center.
But installing an insecure application in the cloud does not automatically make it more secure. Security needs to be implemented and managed in all layers, and securing the founding infrastructure is an extremely important first step.
When that is taken care of you can focus on building secure platforms and secure applications. If you base your applications on a secure 3rd party Platform-as-a-Service and secure infrastructure in the cloud you can put all your limited resources efforts on securing your applications.
So, even though a secure cloud infrastructure doesn’t automatically mean that everything is secure, it still means that you will be able to focus all your limited resources on securing the applications. In total, the result will be radically improved security.
