There are many reasons, sometimes not clearly obvious to you or your business. Maybe it’s not YOU they are after but you customers? Or your suppliers? Or they are gambling on your internal BS communications?
Take that BS off the record. Don’t put it in emails, that’s like putting it on postcards. Change your habits and start using Off The Record messaging tools for enterprise use, not the consumer types like Snapchat or WhatsApp.
Also, your site can be hacked just to inject malware code that opens the doors to the visitors systems. And there can be a big reason, political and economical, to attack that system. So by not protecting your site you are, in fact, an accomplice to the hack of your visitors system.
