A huge security breach traced back to an unsecured IoT device will happen within the next two years, warn security experts.

The only reason we haven’t already seen a major breach is that hackers currently have little interest, even though IoT devices are easy to attack. But, when IoT devices become an integral part in homes, cars or industries the picture will change. It’s probably not the possible data they can steal that will generate the interest. Based on the ransomware trends we see today, my guess is that it will be the ransom and extortion "businesses" that will take off first. How much will people and organisations pay to not have their brakes turned off, or production line halted?
