It also has to work securely and with performance as close to instant as possible. Mobiles are easily lost and communicate over public networks. You need a completely different it strategy and environment than web based solutions. The bandwidth for the mobile employee is not the same as in office or in the city.

Mobile first means more than UX and screen sizes. Pick a backend and tools that also are mobile first otherwise it will just like painting a pig in bright colors. It will still be a pig.
