You cannot run a website today and not have social sharing installed. This means that Facebook, Google and everyone else living on online advertising tracks you. Don’t like it and want to opt-out? Forget it! That would ruin their business models.
Until EU has fought their way through courts to protect consumer rights we can only try to block the trackers. Personally I use https://www.ghostery.com in my browsers. Probably not 100% fool proof but way better than nothing.
We have to realize that running services like Facebook isn’t free and we have to pay to use them in some way, either upfront or by giving them your data. The problem is that you haven’t got a choice in what way you would like to pay. They decide.
And now it’s been revealed that Facebook tracks everyone, disregarding if you are a Facebook user or not. You pay them with your data whenever you use internet like a tax. The first global taxation of everyone by a private company.
