This new malware is only the second piece of true Mac malware spotted so far in 2016, with the first being the KeRanger ransomware.

The common perception of Macs being immune to malware will have to change. Malware developers are getting more clever by the day, and the false sense of security by Mac users leaves the field open for creative development. Mac users will have to learn to be on their gards when it comes to installing applications, even if the web site is presumably "clean" and "serious".
