Identity as a Service with it’s cousin Multi-factor Authentication as a Service is the necessary way forward. The connected world will have more connected end-points, smartphones, IoT, and so forth and the access credentials will be more and more liquid. A user will have a specific right during some circumstances and completely different during others. The same user might have full access to a cloud platform provided by one organization and some other rights at a close partner, all being part of the break-down of large monolithic enterprises into more network type of organizations.

And all access will be over insecure and/or public networks.
